J.C.Owens speech

The following excerpt is from a hour long speech from the American born James Cleveland Owens or "Jesse" Owens after winning 4 gold medals in the 1936 Berlin Olympics..

"To those of you who laughed at me, thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have cried.
To those of you who just couldn't love me, thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have known real love.
To those of you who hurt my feelings, thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have felt them.
To those of you who left me lonely, thank you.
Without you I wouldn't have discovered myself.
But it is to those of you who thought I couldn't do it;
It is you I thank the most,
Because without you I wouldn't have tried."

Once i read he above lines, I immediately made up my mind that this will be the first post for the year 2010.. I could relate myself to each and every word in the above lines..

So just wanted to share it with you guys!!!

By the way, did you ever realize why J.C.Owens was fondly Jesse???

Here comes the reply from the hero himself, "On the first day of school, my first-grade teacher asked me my name and I said, ‘J. C. Owens’, and she said, ‘Oh, Jesse,’ and I’ve never considered changing it since."
