The Saarang delight!!!!

In my college yrs v hav been to many symposiums and culturals but when it comes to Saarang it becomes extra-special and v spend large chunks of time there.. its great fun.. many of my friends deemed it "Kadi" "mokkai" "boring".. But I seriously tell u its fun unlimited.. Its my 4th year and I tell u its not boring at all.. It all depends on the way u see..

Things which are not to be missed are the stalls, the stages, the compering, the competitions, the rocking atmosphere, and to top it all the people coming there.. Truly lip-smacking

The biggest deal wit iit is getting tickets for the pro evening shows.. Always a menace!!

it was not a challenge in my first yr(2005) were v got tickets right in the iit counter.. 15 odd people went and it was a new experience for all of us. My friends were jus getting acclimatized to me and it was pure fun.. There were many sponsors stages which were erected and as we were fresh after our schooling we were shocked to see those pair dances on stage.. i remember my friend talking to me.. "Dai machi wont their mothers scold them if they see all this on tv??".. Ha ha..

Came second yr.. no different again except that it was bigger than last yr..

Came third year.. it was a weird experience for me specifically.. .. as usual v went for choreo the third straight yr.. There were no complaints except that the standard of the dances dropped.. But that was not the reason for my weird experience.. We had dinner at 2345hrs in the stalls and waited for the iit bus at around 0100hrs.. No buses came and v decided to have a walk in the dripping mist.. It was a great experience walking.. It was when my friends started mocking at me and it was totally unstoppable.. Was jus holding my nerves waiting for the walk to end..

Once my college dean said "Students next yr our culturals must be bigger than saarang and we must all work towards it and we will try to bring Shah Rukh on stage and turn the heat on. We must beat them.. U must make it happen ??!!@???"..

Ha ha.. Thats the biggest comedy one could ever make..

Saarang has progressed over the yrs and the budget has gone by the roof.. Somethin which will be astronomical to us for a few yrs to come.. From nokia to hutch to airtel to vodafone its been big in terms of everything…

Came fourth yr.. And it was a totally new experience.. Other than the usual fun v had more to suit our taste.. Nitin and myself spent most of the time in iit realising it may well turn out to be our last saarang.. as usual the tickets were a menace and again v managed to get them by standing in the hot sun in long queues with my friends Lokesh, Nitin and Valli.. Can never forget that.. Was one of the first person to get it when the counters opened.. a huge sigh of relief.. as usual it was choreo.. We dint realise it wood turn out to be a bad choice!!

You no its a special feeling when u fight so hard for something and u do ur everything for it to happen. And when u get wat u wanted- the ecstasy u get is boundless.. No matter what the reason however silly it may be!!!

Hmmm.. We went to choreo and it was below average to say the least.. Except for a couple the rest was down right poor.. we had Gautam menon and Daniel balaji for chief guest.. it was great to see them on stage and it was the only refreshing thing that hpnd to us.. Again v walked out of iit and again my friends std mocking at me!!! My god there is no end for it!!!!

The next day Nitin and myself went in the afternoon and had fun for a couple of hrs.. We went to iit lake and it was totally silent except for the occasional bird chirps.. We were awe inspired by the naturality of the place and wondered why such a place has been less inhabited.. It was a serene surrounding.. So peaceful.. We went deep inside and had memories of "Raghavan in Vettaiyadu vilayadu" movie.. My friend got inspired and shot a racy kinda video there to use for his film.. We also saw "Saarang village" which was cool too!!!

The third day Nitin and myself went after lunch.. Reached by 1330 and went into a coffee shop there.. Simply sat there in chill ac and were talking abt the prices with nothing in r pockets to spend.. After an hour we saw the painting competition happening there.. We were disturbed by a melodious sound which came coming in inspite of all the rocking noise from the main stages.. It was not long before v realised that it was coming from the stadium there.. So went there to peep in to find whats goin on.. We were in pleasant shock to see singer Karthik rehearsing for the evening show.. He was singing "Nila kaigiradhu" from "Indira" wit ease.. It was soul stirring and it was so pleasant to hear it live with those speakers and woofers.. Wow!!! It was blissful!!! We were totally spell bound by the intensity!!! ..

That was the time v realised that v really missed this show. Its never goin to come again..

A funny moment: we were jus feelin sad on missing this show when a boy came running in and said " See I got autograph frm Karthik and I think even a small kid wood scribble better than him "

We peeped into the paper and burst out laughin.. Ha ha.. He has drawn 5 circles interconnected.. Ha ha.. that was when an idea struck us.. Nitin said we will sign it ourselves and say we got from him.. We did that and fooled our friends and later said the truth..

We also saw Lucky Ali and his troupe over there.. One of the guitar guys had such a long long long long hair that went beyond this knees.. Jus a few cms above ground.. He was nearly blonde and made a new hairstyle in it.. Ha ha.. It was really funny..

Took photos with them and went to all the restricted places there which wood never hav hpnd in the peak hrs.. That was the only consoling thing..

At 1630 we were asked to leave the audi as the ticket holders will come in.. As v dint possess a ticket v got the craziest idea to hide in the toilet and join the show after it had begun.. Such was the impact of the voice..

We seriously felt v missed a great chance.. Better luck next time..

Hmmm.. Its not only Saarang which is exceptional.. Others will be there too.. In my view nothing is even closer to Saarang and its technical advancement..

Saarang simply rocks!!!!
